Biography of Dr. Sherif Hegab:
Professor Dr. Sherif Hegab is a prominent figure in the field of interventional radiology in Egypt and the Middle East. He currently serves as the Head of the Interventional Radiology Unit in the Radiology Department at the Faculty of Medicine, Alexandria University. Dr. Hegab graduated from Alexandria University’s Faculty of Medicine in 1980, obtained his Master’s degree in Diagnostic Radiology and Ultrasound in 1984, and earned his Doctorate in the same specialty in 1990.
Dr. Hegab is an active member of several esteemed scientific societies, including the Cardiovascular and Interventional Radiological Society of Europe (CIRSE), the Egyptian Society of Interventional Radiology (ESIR), and the Pan Arab Interventional Radiology Society (PAIR). He also holds the position of editor at the Egyptian Journal of Radiology and Nuclear Medicine (EJSRN).
Throughout his career, Dr. Hegab has participated in numerous international conferences, such as the Society of Interventional Radiology (SIR) Annual Scientific Meeting in Toronto in 2005, the Asia Pacific Congress of Cardiovascular and Interventional Radiology in Thailand in 2006, the Global Embolization Symposium and Technologies (GEST) in Spain in 2007, and the CIRSE congress in Denmark in 2008. He also attended conferences in San Diego in 2009, Germany in 2012, Chicago in 2011, New Orleans in 2013, and Spain in 2013. Additionally, he was a speaker at the Makkah Radiology Conference in 2011 and 2013, and participated in the 12th Asia Pacific Congress of Cardiovascular and Interventional Radiology (APCCVIR) in 2016.
