Biography of Prof. Dr. Omar Abdelaziz:

Dr. Omar Abdelaziz stands as an eminent figure in the realm of Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology, holding the esteemed position of Professor and Head of the Interventional Radiology Unit at Cairo University Hospitals (Kasr Al Aini), Egypt. His distinguished career in Radiology commenced in 1998, marked by significant academic achievements, earning his Master’s degree in 2002 and his Doctorate in 2008 from Cairo University.

With over twenty-five years of profound expertise in Interventional Radiology, Dr. Abdelaziz specializes notably in hepato-biliary procedures, oncology interventions, liver transplantation, and pediatric interventions. His clinical excellence is recognized widely, serving as a consultant at Dar El-Foad Hospitals and contributing significantly to five major liver transplant centers across Egypt.

His professional journey extends internationally, having undertaken observerships at prestigious institutions such as Goethe University Hospital in Germany, and Imperial College’s St Mary’s Hospital, as well as Great Ormond Street Hospital in London, UK.

Beyond his clinical endeavors, Dr. Abdelaziz co-founded and actively participates in the board of the Egyptian Society of Interventional Radiology (EgSIR). He is also a respected member of the Egyptian Society of Radiology and Nuclear Medicine (ESRNM) and a corresponding member of both the Cardiovascular and Interventional Radiological Society of Europe (CIRSE) and the European Society of Radiology (ESR).

His scholarly contributions include 38 international publications and more than 20 impactful scientific presentations at major global conferences such as SIR, CIRSE, RSNA, and PAIRS. He currently serves as Associate Editor for the World Journal of Radiology and contributes as a reviewer for several prominent journals, including Liver Transplantation, American Journal of Transplantation (AJT), Clinical Transplantation, World Journal of Gastroenterology (WJG), World Journal of Transplantation (WJT), and Transplant International.
